Teaching

I enjoy teaching and mentoring. Below, I highlight some of the awards and experiences I’ve had as a graduate student.
Excellence in Teaching Award
I was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Georgia for my teaching efforts. Read more about it here!
You can download my teaching portfolio submitted for this award here.
Future Faculty Fellows Program
I was selected as a member of the Future Faculty Fellows program (3FP) as part of the 2022 cohort. The Graduate School and Center for Teaching and Learning sponsored 3FP and introduced us to teaching and faculty mentorship. We focused on teaching strategies and disseminating this information to other graduate students through TA Cafes.
Plant Taxonomy (PBIO 4650/6650)
I had the opportunity to co-teach Plant Taxonomy as an instructor of record in Spring 2020, 2022, and 2024.
In Spring 2020, I developed and co-taught Plant Taxonomy. We transitioned to an online-only format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Spring 2021, I provided my materials and worked with graduate students who taught in my place while I was on a fellowship. We presented on our efforts at Botany 2021.
I transitioned the course to a hybrid model in Spring 2022 and incorporated a Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience using iNaturalist and a plant collection. In Spring 2024, UGA hired a new herbarium director and I transitioned to a TA position while helping Dr. Williams take over the course.
